I won’t say a thing. This is the last blues Coltrane ever recorded in a studio. Enjoy and feel it, if you can. Click here to listen or download.

Friday night I’m home and remember to enroll in a three-day trial for Sirius, so I can here that just-unearthed concert from 1957 with Coltrane joining Thelonious Monk’s band in a Harlem benefit. It starts with just the two of them - Monk’s Mood - absolutely unbelievable. I’ve got to find it. It comes out in November on Blue Note. But that beginning…. Really, really spectacular.

I can’t wait. I’m jealous you got to hear some of it. I’ve been thinking about that release ever since I read about it on your site last month. When I first heard the studio recording, sometime when I was in college, it was something of a life changing experience for me. Trinkle Tinkle, in particular, left me half off my nut every time I heard it - and still does. An overwhelming listening experience, so I just can’t wait.
