Chris,

My mother always used to say the same thing -- live someplace that is within walking distance of food, transportation, school, and a laundramat. Mr. Jane gassed up the cars Monday night, in expectation of a price hike. We sat down last night and figured planned out how, if we need to, we could manage getting to work and the kids to school without using the cars at all.

Sometimes I think about buying a bike. It would be great exercise and it's getting to be a nicer time of year for biking, but I'm not in tip top shape, my asthma medication ran out and I'm too lazy to fill it, plus it's a far and very trafficky ride. I guess I'll just keep pinching my pennies even harder and they'll squeal even louder.

if it's not raining, i'm on my bike anyways for my 40 block commute. i expect to see more bikers on the road in the next few days/weeks/months. people will be priced out of their cars.
