Fattah

There is some not so surprising news this morning, revealing that Chaka Fattah sent a letter to the FEC stating that he is highly “highly likely” to run for mayor in 2007. The purpose of the letter is to get permission from the FEC to raise money for both his congressional and his mayoral campaigns at the same time. According to some analysis I heard on NPR this morning, the letter also served the purpose of rattling the cages of his 4000-5000 (very slight exaggeration) potential primary rivals. Tulin has the letter, if you’d like a look.

It will be interesting to see how the mayoral primary (still a long way off) plays out in the local blogs. Most of us were fairly unified around one candidate during the D.A. primary. I don’t see that happening this time around. I wonder if it will get ugly?

after all this talk about how the local blogs are nice we are to each other, it should be interesting. i don’t think it’ll get ugly though, a lot of us know each other personally at this point and it’s a little harder to start flaming once we have some respect for each other. but each candidate will have her/his hardcore followers and an attack on the candidate will be like an attack on the supporter to many. maybe it would be easier if one of the bloggers just ran, say, mr. rowhouse logic himself.

I volunteer Albert to be treasurer for the “Chris for Congress” campaign.

Ha! That would be an interesting experiment just to see if I would be the worst candidate for any office in U.S. history. I doubt there will be any hard core flaming, but I’m sure some feelings will get hurt. Two years is forever on the internet, so I’m sure there will be a ton of new sites and some old ones will be gone, so some of the familiarity may be gone.

At this point, there are not a lot of “inspiring” candidates out there, which may keep the passion level down.

I promise I won’t flame anyone. Except Albert. OK, and maybe Chris. And, if ACM doesn’t agree with me, screw her. And if Chris Bowers tries to wedge his way in, I will see to it tha…. Ha.

I think, as Albert said, given that most of the locals know each other pretty well at this point, that it will be hard to be to awful to each other. Maybe we can have a local blogger arbitration panel, with punishment being a banning at Drinking Liberally.
