Survey Madness

Just to follow up on my previous post about MoveOn’s decision to endorse Bob Casey, I should add that they sent out an email survey to members, myself included, to determine who they would endorse. One problem with the survey, aside from being way too early, is that it didn’t provide any actual information about the candidates’ stances on any issues. Just a little information on the candidates’ positions is the best thing they could have provided at this stage, and I think they really fell down on the job. This is partially understandable, as the candidate they endorsed doesn’t seem to have any positions at this point.

Anyway, I’m going to spend quite a bit of time talking about Chuck Pennacchio in the coming months, but I won’t be doing it by tearing down Bob Casey any further than I already have. Chuck has very good positions on nearly every issue, so staying positive should be very easy. I should add that, regardless of the outcome of the primary, I will be supporting and working to help elect the Democratic nominee.

Thank you for the link to Chuck Pennacchio. I’m actually a republican who has had it with the GOP (especially Santorum). Changing the Senate and the House … now that works for me. The President will find it tougher to pass anyhting the more Dems we get into Washington DC.

Hey cool site. I am supporting Bob Casey for the Senate race. Chuck Pennachio is a kick ass candidate, and so is Casey. Although, Pennacchio has good stances on the issues, Casey has stolen Santorum’s two issues away from him: guns and abortion. You may wonder why are you voting for Casey. I am not voting for him because of his father or his comradery with Rendell and because he is relatively unopposed, because Casey can oust Santorum and get that Senate Seat. That is what PA needs, we need Santorum Gone. IT is as simple as that. THat is everyone’s goal, whether you approve of Casey or not. Also, I want Pennacchio to take Specter’s seat. I don’t think Specter will run again in 2010. But the word on the SWPA street is that Rep. Tim Murphy is going to run in 2010.

Those are not reasons, for me, to back Casey at this point. Having a very hotly contested Democratic primary will only make both Democratic candidates better and more prepared to go up against Santorum in the general election.

True, getting Santorum out is the biggest goal, but to do so with a candidate I feel strongly for is even better. For me, Chuck is that candidate.

I agree albert, it was just in relation to Casey not offering positions.

I feel strongly about both candidates as well, probably because I dislike Santorum immensely. I can’t wait til the primaries too. I like Pennacchio too. He is a good candidate. But, we will have to wait.

I have a question. If Pennacchio did not win the primary would you stilll support Casey?

  5. albert Says:

Yes I would. Chuck would support Bob as well, he’s said so publically. Bob, however, has not. Well, he hasn’t said much of anything at all actually. Most of the things I’ve heard about/of Bob has come from the Pennacchio camp. Odd, no?

  6. Samantha Says:

I know that is what amazes me about Casey. He has not done anything, and he is already 14 points up on the polls ahead of Santorum. I think Casey will step it up coming this November. Maybe Pennacchio is giving Casey publicity without knowing it.

I couldn’t agree with you more. How can anybody in their right mind who calls themselves progressive or liberal, in good conscience, support and vote for Casey?
Chuck is PAC free, has great ideas, can debate and has the temperment to be a great Senator. He can beat Santorum. If Wellstone can do it, so can Chuck. That is where I am putting my time, talents, treasure and tenacity.
Chuck is the only candidate that I agree with on all the issues and the first and only one that I have given money to. Get involved. Blogging is not enough.
