Rowhouse Logic - Breathtaking Inanity

Apparently illegal detentions are, well, illegal. I particularly like this quote from Judge Green’s ruling:

“Although this nation unquestionably must take strong action under the leadership of the commander in chief to protect itself against enormous and unprecedented threats, that necessity cannot negate the existence of the most basic fundamental rights for which the people of this country have fought and died for well over 200 years.”

That sums it up pretty nicely doesn’t it? Necessity cannot negate the existence of fundamental rights. Considering the fact that so many of the detainees have been released without any charges, I have serious doubts about the necessity of any of this mess but I’m happy to grasp at straws from time to time.

Will this change anything? No, of course not. If some of the current detainees aren’t still there this time next year, I really will be shocked.
